Two held for power theft in Kasur

LAHORE: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), in its campaign against electricity theft, conducted an intelligence-based operation in various areas of Kasur Circle and arrested two individuals involved in power theft. According to a LESCO spokesperson, the operation was carried out under the supervision of Kasur Circle SE Muhammad Anwar Wattoo. In the Allahabad West Chunian Division, overseen by XEN Engineer Mian Tariq Bashir, a consumer identified as M Ameen, holder of a tube well connection, was caught red-handed stealing electricity. Officials revealed that the consumer’s meter had already been disconnected due to non-payment of dues. Despite this, he had been illegally drawing electricity at night by directly tapping into the main transformer bushings to irrigate agricultural land. The LESCO enforcement team acted swiftly, arresting two individuals at the scene and registering a formal case. The transformer involved in the illegal setup was also removed. The operation was completed under the supervision of SDO Allahabad West Sajid Javed. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
