KARACHI: Sizzling weather scorched Karachi on Monday, with the temperature rising to 41 Celsius, the highest recorded in the city this September, as the Met Office forecast hot and humid conditions across Sindh for the next couple of days. The metropolis experienced another spell of hot weather as the mercury touched a new monthly high, while humidity remained comparatively low. The weather is expected to stay hot across the province over the next two days. The Met Office said Karachi was likely to remain hot and humid on Tuesday, with the maximum temperature ranging between 36 and 38 Celsius and humidity levels between 70 and 80 percent. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature is expected to remain between 35 and 37 Celsius, with humidity ranging from 70 to 80 percent. Elsewhere in the country, mainly dry weather is expected in most areas, with hot conditions likely to prevail in the plains during the daytime. Partly cloudy weather is expected in northern hilly areas, while light rain may occur in Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas on Tuesday afternoon. During the past 24 hours, most parts of the country experienced dry weather, with hot conditions in the plains. However, light rain was recorded in Mithi, Ziarat, Babusar and Parachinar.
