Highlight On 28 July, to mark the 75th anniversary of the 1951 Refugee Convention, UNHCR launched “The Promise”, a global initiative that brings together 75 voices from around the world, including religious leaders, Nobel Prize laureates, artists and cultural figures, human rights defenders, and sportspeople, in support of refugee protection and solidarity. The campaign highlights the enduring relevance of the Convention and reaffirms our collective commitment to ensuring safety, rights, and opportunities for people forced to flee. The initiative also aims to build a diverse coalition in support of refugee protection by inviting people around the world to sign “The Promise” in the lead-up to the 2027 Global Refugee Forum.
