LEEDS: The father of UK-based Pakistani dental public health specialist and dental surgeon Dr Shahid Anwar has passed away in Leeds, United Kingdom, family friends and colleagues confirmed. The deceased, a retired Wing Commander of the Pakistan Air Force, had been spending his retirement years in the UK with his family. News of his passing has prompted an outpouring of condolences and prayers from members of the Pakistani and dental communities in Britain and abroad. We humbly request everyone to remember the deceased and the bereaved family in their prayers. ” A distinguished career in dentistry and academia Dr Shahid Anwar, whose father passed away in Leeds, is a UK General Dental Council (GDC)-registered dental surgeon and specialist in dental public health who has been serving patients in West Yorkshire since 2001. He has extensive experience in both NHS and private dental practice and is widely known for providing cosmetic and general dentistry services. Alongside his clinical work, Dr Anwar serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Dental Public Health at the University of Leeds and has remained actively involved in teaching, research, and academic administration. A graduate of Punjab University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree, he later pursued postgraduate education and specialist training in the United Kingdom and Australia. His qualifications include MSc, Diploma in Dental Public Health (DDPH), Fellowship in Dental Public Health of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FDS-DPH), and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS). Colleagues describe Dr Anwar as a highly experienced clinician with particular interests in cosmetic dentistry, smile makeovers, composite bonding, teeth whitening, and clear aligner therapy.
