Syed Zia Alamdar elected PHMA Chairman

KARACHI: The Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PHMA) on Tuesday elected Syed Zia Alamdar Hussain as Chairman for the 2026-28 term, along with other office-bearers and members of its Executive Committee. The election results were announced at the association’s Annual General Meeting, with Abdul Jabbar Gajiani elected Senior Vice-Chairman and Mian Farrukh Iqbal Vice-Chairman. The newly elected Executive Committee members from the Southern Zone are Abdul Jabbar Gajiani, Shabbir Haroon Bilwani, Muhammad Adeel Ayaz, Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, Mohammad Riaz Ahmed, Mahmood Nara, Akhtar Memon, Altaf Hussain, Mohammad Ilyas Gigi, Mohammad Saleem Nagaria, Iftikhar Ashraf, Sheryar Muhammad Bashir, Aman Ahmed Allahwalla and Noman Rauf. Abdul Jabbar Gajiani, Central Senior Vice-Chairman, will also serve as Zonal Chairman of the Southern Zonal Committee. Shabbir Haroon Bilwani and Muhammad Adeel Ayaz were elected Zonal Senior Vice-Chairman and Zonal Vice-Chairman, respectively. The Northern Zone’s newly elected Executive Committee members are Syed Zia Alamdar Hussain, Izhar ul Haq, Naveed Afzal, Muhammad Zanoon Nazir, Ali Hassan, Nisar Ahmed, Muhammad Khubbab Anees, Naeem Malik, Muhammad Amanullah Khan, Ibrar Ahmed, Khawaja Musharaf Iqbal, Muhammad Akhtar and Sawaiz Ur Rehaman. Mian Farrukh Iqbal, Central Vice-Chairman, will also serve as Zonal Chairman of the Northern Zonal Committee, while Izhar ul Haq and Naveed Afzal were elected Zonal Senior Vice-Chairman and Zonal Vice-Chairman, respectively. The newly elected office-bearers and Executive Committee members were supported by the Export Development Group (EDG), headed by Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, who is also Patron-in-Chief of PHMA. Speaking on the occasion, Jawed Bilwani expressed confidence that the newly elected representatives would work to address the issues faced by the industry, protect the interests of members and further promote and boost exports. Newly elected Chairman Syed Zia Alamdar Hussain, Senior Vice-Chairman Abdul Jabbar Gajiani and Vice-Chairman Mian Farrukh Iqbal said they were honoured to have been elected to lead PHMA. They described the association as the premier and largest organisation representing Pakistan’s value-added apparel and textile sector. They also paid tribute to the outgoing chairman, office-bearers and Executive Committee members for promoting the interests of the value-added textile industry during their tenure. They pledged to continue working for the promotion and protection of the sector. The General Body members acknowledged the services and efforts of the outgoing chairman and office-bearers and felicitated the newly elected office-bearers and Executive Committee members.
