On the evening of 3 June 2026, intense armed confrontations erupted in Mogadishu between Somali Federal Government forces and an opposition-affiliated armed group, resulting in significant and immediate Protection of Civilians (PoC) implications. The hostilities originated in the vicinity of Dabka Junction and expanded into densely populated districts including Howlwadaag, Cabdicasiis, Hodan, Wardhiigley, and parts of Kaaraan. Preliminary data indicates that approximately 12, 500 households have been displaced. Affected populations include women, children, older persons, persons with disabilities, and other individuals with specific protection needs.
