Sindh to pay pensions on retirement day from 2027

The Sindh government has decided to pay pensions to government employees on the day of their retirement from January 1, 2027. Orders have been issued to all provincial departments to ensure timely payment of pensions and other basic financial dues to retiring employees. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting on pensions and medical reimbursement chaired by Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah. The Accountant General Sindh, finance secretary, services secretary, health secretary and other relevant officials attended the meeting. The chief secretary directed the authorities to ensure that employees retiring from January 1, 2027 receive their pensions on their last working day. “A government employee should receive their pension and basic financial dues on the last day of service, ” Shah said. He directed all provincial departments to clear pending pension bills within three months. Shah said retired employees should not have to visit government offices repeatedly to receive their pensions. He called for an integrated system to ensure timely pension payments. He also directed the formation of an interdepartmental task force under the supervision of the services secretary. The task force will include representatives from the Accountant General Sindh, Finance Department, Health Department, General Administration Department and other relevant departments. The meeting also directed officials to propose amendments to rules where necessary to ensure timely pension payments. The final operational framework for the pension payment system is to be presented within a week. The chief secretary also reviewed delays in the payment of medical reimbursement claims of government employees. Officials told the meeting that incomplete documents, e-verification and delays in the issuance of NACs were among the reasons for delays in processing medical claims. Shah said delays in medical reimbursement were caused by administrative hurdles rather than policy or funding issues. He directed authorities to eliminate unnecessary paperwork from the medical reimbursement process and asked the secretary general administration to conduct a joint review of the procedure. The Accountant General Sindh, Finance Department, Services Department and other relevant departments were directed to simplify the medical claims process. Shah said the system for medical claims of government employees and their families should be made easier and faster. He stressed that employees should not face unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles in obtaining their pensions and medical dues.
