Reports allege use of hazardous bomb fragments in Lebanon conflict

A concerning claim has surfaced regarding injuries sustained during Israeli strikes in Lebanon, with medical professionals reportedly warning about the presence of dangerous metal fragments in victims’ bodies. According to Al Jazeera, combat surgeon Dr Tahir Mohammed said that fine metal particles found in some injured civilians were similar to those previously observed in the Gaza Strip during earlier Israeli military operations. Dr. Mohammed stated in an interview that small tungsten-based fragments, allegedly released from certain munitions, can spread inside the body after explosions and cause severe internal damage, making medical treatment significantly more complex. He added that similar materials had been documented in Gaza, where they were associated with serious injuries among civilians. The doctor described such weapons as highly destructive in densely populated areas, though these claims have not been independently verified. Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon continue to be reported, with local sources claiming further casualties, including medical personnel, in recent attacks. Figures cited in reports suggest thousands have been killed since March, though these numbers remain unconfirmed by independent international agencies. Separately, Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for drone strikes targeting Israeli military positions, further escalating cross-border tensions.
