‘Leadership Development Programme: Journey to Next Level’ held

LAHORE: The two-day “Leadership Development Program: Journey to the Next Level” was successfully conducted at Executive Development Institute (EDI) of the National School of Public Policy (NSPP), Lahore from Wednesday, 09 to Thursday, 10 September, 2026. The Executive Development Institute arranged a two-day “Leadership Development Programme: Journey to the Next Level” for senior officials and decision-makers in both the public and private sectors. Dr Naveed Elahi, Dean EDI, in his opening remarks, highlighted the Leadership Development Programme’s focus on strengthening leadership skills and excellence in public service through team dynamics, leadership styles, emotional intelligence, motivation, diversity and innovation, using interactive learning and experience-sharing; he also outlined EDI’s performance and strategic goals, including its careful selection of professional, academic and training experts to provide holistic perspectives on emerging issues, reflected in the success and nationwide participation of its previous programmes. The eminent Guest Speakers of the first-day were, Dr Naveed Elahi, Dean, EDI/NIPP, delivered an in-depth lecture on “Know Thyself; Through Integrated Discipline of Leadership & Management”, Shoaib Mir, Former Chief Secretary Balochistan, shared insights on “Leadership & Innovation in the Public Sector: Best Practices from Pakistan and International organization”, Prof Dr Sa’ad B Malik, Consultant Psychiatrist / Specialist in Mental Health & Psychiatric Disorder presented on “Emotional Intelligence in Effectively Dealing with a Crisis or Turbulent Context” and finally, Dr Ishrat Hussain, Economist/Former Advisor to the Prime Minister & Governor SBP shed lights on “Effective Leadership and Strategic Management”. The second-day was featured with a three hours workshop on “Essence of Leadership” by Dr Jawad Syed, Professor LUMS. This was followed by Dr Muhammad Amjad Saqib, Chairman Akhuwat Foundation, who shed lights on “Exemplary Leadership through Vision, Integrity & Sacrifice” and Prof Dr S Sohail H Naqvi, Former VC, LUMS, presented an enlighting session on “AI and Emerging Technologies for Leaders”. Concluding the programme, Dr Naveed Elahi, Dean EDI, thanked the participants for their engagement and highlighted the valuable insights gained during the two-day training programme. He encouraged them to foster inclusive teams and lead with integrity in advancing national development. Certificates were also presented in recognition of their participation and commitment to learning. A diverse group of 51 participants attended from across the country, including civil officers from both federal and provincial governments, in addition to private sector executives, including academia.
