Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation on Thursday in which they discussed the latest situation in the region, diplomatic efforts and regional cooperation, according to official statements. According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Araghchi spoke with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar over the phone. The two sides discussed recent developments in the region and the evolving situation. Both leaders stressed the importance of continuing dialogue and diplomacy under current circumstances and agreed on the need to further strengthen cooperation among regional countries, the statement added. The contact came at a time when Iran is reviewing a new proposal presented by the United States to end the war, while Pakistan is seeking to mediate between the two sides for a lasting solution, according to the text. US media have reported that Tehran may submit its response to the US peace proposal through mediators at any time. CNN reported that the two sides are close to signing a short memorandum of understanding aimed at an immediate end to the war.
