Country: India Source: European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations Heavy rainfall, strong winds, heavy hailstorms and thunderstorms affected the Assam state (north-eastern India) on 12 April, causing several severe weather-related incidents (mainly due to strong wind) that have resulted in casualties and damage. Media report, as of 15 April, five injured people, a number of damaged buildings and several blocked roads across the Cachar district (central Assam state), where the most affected area is the city of Silchar. Over the next 72 hours, moderate rainfall is still forecast over most of the Assam state.
