Houthi drone debris kills Yemeni resident, injures Pakistani in Saudi Arabia

A Yemeni resident was killed and a Pakistani national was critically injured after debris from an intercepted Houthi drone fell in Saudi Arabia’s Taif on Thursday. The Saudi Civil Defence said the drone, which it attributed to the Houthi militia, was intercepted and destroyed before its debris fell over the city. A Saudi citizen was also injured in the incident, according to the authorities. The falling debris damaged several buildings and vehicles in the residential area, the Civil Defence said. Emergency teams responded to the incident and implemented the approved safety and emergency procedures, according to the authorities. The incident comes amid renewed tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthis, with cross-border drone and missile attacks intensifying in recent weeks. Saudi Arabia has reported intercepting several Houthi attacks targeting its territory, including a drone intercepted south of Makkah earlier this week. The Houthis denied that the drone was targeting Makkah, saying their operations were directed at Saudi military and energy sites. The latest incident in Taif adds to the recent escalation, with Saudi authorities reporting casualties and property damage from falling debris despite intercepting the incoming drone.
