Description This week, Super Typhoon Sinlaku made landfall in the Northern Mariana Islands before striking Guam and the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). In the CNMI, the islands of Saipan and Tinian were directly struck with heavy rain, mass flooding and extreme winds. Reports confirm widespread power outages, extreme flooding, and destroyed roofs are reported across the islands. A long recovery is expected, with power outages predicted to last from weeks to months. Guam was indirectly hit by the typhoon, and sustained torrential rain, flash flooding, and general disruptions across the island.
