CCD Punjab launches crackdown on narcotics

LAHORE: Following the directives of Additional Inspector General (AIG) Crime Control Department (CCD) Punjab Sohail Zafar Chattha, the department has decided to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against the sale, purchase and use of narcotics and other intoxicating substances. A large-scale crackdown against drug dealers and suppliers has been launched across Punjab, while the CCD has also prepared an emergency action plan to prevent the use and sale of narcotics in educational institutions. Under the plan, immediate legal action will be taken against those involved in drug peddling in and around educational institutions. Regular monitoring of educational institutions will also be carried out to protect students from the menace of drugs. The CCD Punjab urged parents and teachers to keep a close watch on children’s habits and daily routines. The spokesperson said that the law-enforcement machinery was fully active against major drug networks and dealers. The public was urged to fearlessly report individuals involved in the sale and supply of narcotics. With public cooperation, the CCD said, the menace of drugs would be eliminated from its roots.
