The Minimum Expenditure Basket (MEB) Analysis Report 2026 presents the latest evidence-based assessment of the minimum monthly cost required for a vulnerable household in Bangladesh to meet essential food and non-food needs with dignity. Conducted by the Cash Working Group (CWG), the analysis serves as a key reference for determining humanitarian cash assistance values and strengthening coordinated cash programming nationwide. Using market data, inflation trends, household expenditure patterns, and humanitarian standards, the report estimates the national monthly MEB at BDT 21, 469 for a five-person household, including essential food, healthcare, education, shelter-related, transport, and hygiene costs. The findings provide the basis for setting cash transfer values and support evidence-based humanitarian planning, vulnerability analysis, and emergency response decision-making in Bangladesh.
