Bestway Group plans to launch EVs soon

LAHORE: The Bestway Automotive Private Limited (BAL), the authorised distributor and official representative of Chinese automaker Geely Auto in Pakistan, has announced plans to introduce Geely vehicles in the country, describing the partnership as a long-term commitment to Pakistan’s automotive and new-energy mobility sector. Speaking at a media meet in Lahore on Tuesday, Irfan Anwar Sheikh, Group Managing Director of Bestway Group’s non-banking businesses in Pakistan, said the partnership would combine Bestway’s local investment experience with Geely’s global automotive technology, safety and engineering capabilities. “For us, this partnership is a long-term commitment to Pakistan, ” Irfan said, adding that Bestway Group had been investing in the country for decades across sectors including cement, banking, insurance, packaging, renewable technology and consultancy. The company plans to initially introduce Geely vehicles as Completely Built Units (CBUs), with bookings expected to open before the end of 2026. The Bestway Automotive also plans to commence local assembly at an existing state-of-the-art Completely Knocked Down (CKD) facility in Karachi, recently acquired by the company. “Initially, Bestway Automotive plans to introduce three categories of vehicles – two EVs and one hybrid vehicle, ” the MD said. Responding to a question about the future of new entrants in the Pakistani market, he said, in his view, only those companies in the auto sector would survive that focused on quality, superior customer service and low production costs. “We are entering the automobile sector with a focus on the local market, transitioning from assembly to localisation and ultimately moving towards exports, ” he remarked. The MD said Geely offered a portfolio covering new-energy vehicles (NEVs), internal combustion engine vehicles and intelligent mobility technologies. The group sold more than 3. 02 million vehicles globally in 2025, including 1. 69 million NEVs, while its international network covered 88 countries and regions through more than 1, 200 outlets. He said Bestway Automotive’s commitment would extend beyond vehicle sales to after-sales services and support for the wider mobility ecosystem, particularly Pakistan’s transition towards new-energy mobility. The Geely launch would mark the beginning of a long-term initiative aimed at bringing advanced automotive technology and safety standards to Pakistani consumers while contributing to the development of the country’s evolving automotive and mobility industry, he concluded.
