Azad Kashmir police arrest man accused of spying for RAW

Azad Kashmir police said on Thursday they had arrested a man accused of working for India’s intelligence agency, RAW, and dismantled what they described as a broader espionage network. Inspector General of Azad Kashmir Police Liaquat Ali Malik told a press conference in Muzaffarabad that the suspect, identified as Irfan, had been engaged in espionage activities and was apprehended by Rawalakot police. Malik said the suspect had been in contact with handlers via social media, conducting reconnaissance of sensitive installations and sharing videos and location details. He added that the accused had also attempted to recruit children for sabotage activities by offering them money. Police presented what they described as a confessional statement by the suspect, who said he had been lured through an online job offer. Malik said authorities remained vigilant and would not allow any threats to the region, adding that further investigations were underway to identify others linked to the network.
