Pakistan fully focused on mediating to end Iran war: Shehbaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said Pakistan is fully focused on mediating between Iran and the United States to help end the war, stressing that Islamabad has not given up hope of reducing tensions. Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session, Shehbaz said that Pakistan was playing the role of a “sincere and honest” mediator between Tehran and Washington. He noted that he, US President Donald Trump and the Iranian president had signed a memorandum of understanding, but regretted that subsequent developments had been unexpected. “We have not lost hope and remain fully committed to reducing tensions and making progress, ” the prime minister said, adding that the mediation was an ongoing process and that friendly countries were also contributing to efforts to achieve peace.
