Karachi’s temperature rose to 40. 7°C on Tuesday, breaking a nine-year record for September, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The previous record was 40. 5°C, set in September 2017. The PMD said humidity in the city stood at 69%, while light winds were blowing from the west at 8 kilometres per hour. The weather is expected to remain hot and humid, with high humidity and light winds likely to make the heat feel more intense. Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, stay hydrated and take precautions against heat-related problems, particularly children, older people and those spending extended periods outdoors.
