Country: Yemen Sources: Emergency Telecommunications Cluster, World Food Programme Please refer to the attached file. The WFP-led Logistics and Telecommunications Cluster (LTC) was activated as the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) in Yemen in April 2015 in response to the conflict. This Situation Report provides a monthly update on LTC telecommunications activities. All references to the LTC in this report relate specifically to the telecommunications component of the cluster. Summary Points • LTC in Yemen has shifted to a cost-sharing model to remain effective in a chronically underfunded humanitarian environment. With 2026 needs projected at USD 347, 000, current activities are fully sustained through inter-agency contributions. • Connectivity at UN hubs was strengthened in April, with services provided to 216 humanitarian staff in Al Mukalla and Al Makha, expanded network coverage at the Mukalla hub through new infrastructure, and an upgraded VSAT bandwidth in Al Makha. • Security communications were reinforced across the response, enabling 826 responders to access UNDSS-managed Security Operations Centres (SOCs) in five locations. The LTC also supported UN agencies through VHF radio programming and standardized callsigns and provided SOC installation and continuity support to maintain 24/7 operations.
