Vietnam raises $97 million in government bond auction (Adds details)

HANOI: Vietnam’s State Treasury raised 2. 54 trillion dong ($97 million) in its weekly government bond auction on Thursday, down from $479 million raised last week. The uptake was also lower, with only 15% of the bonds on offer sold, compared with 74% last week, according to a Hanoi Stock Exchange filing. The treasury sold 2. 5 trillion dong out of the 8 trillion dong of 5-year bonds on offer, at a coupon of 4. 42%. It sold 35 billion dong out of the 500 billion dong of 30-year bonds on offer, at a coupon of 4. 61%. It failed to offload any of the combined 8. 5 trillion dong of 3-, 5- and 15-year bonds on offer. The government aims to raise 500 trillion dong from bond sales this year. So far it has raised over 220 trillion dong. ‐Reuters
