Context Five weeks after the June 24 earthquakes in Venezuela, the death toll and affected population continue increasing. OCHA has formalized the national response into a six-month Humanitarian Response Plan Addendum (July–Dec. 2026). Toll: 5, 546 dead, 16, 740 injured, 6, 462 rescued alive. Rescuers describe no longer searching for survivors, and international search and rescue missions are scaling back. There are critical information gaps related to missing persons. Children: CECODAP estimates that over 1, 400 children and adolescents remain at significant risk of harm due to the earthquake. Displacement: As of July 26, 107 transitional camps for affected populations are housing 24, 477 people (87% capacity). Most displaced people remain concentrated in Caracas and La Guaira. Education: According to civil society organizations, over 900 schools have been affected, including 18 school facilities that have totally collapsed and 40 that have severe structural damage. 120 teachers have been reported dead. Economic effects and reconstruction costs: June inflation hit 13. 8%, more than double May’s rate. National reconstruction cost estimates now range from USD 12–15 billion. Government and private sector banking institutions are exploring credit programs for housing repair and replacement. Humanitarian funding request: OCHA’s Humanitarian Response Plan Addendum requests USD 298 million to reach 1. 3 million people over six months (JulyDecember 2026). This is in addition to the USD 930 million humanitarian funding required for 6. 2 million people in Venezuela prior to the earthquake. Priority needs as per the OCHA Rapid Needs Assessment: health (53%), safe water (52%), food security (50%), psychosocial support (27%), sanitation/hygiene (22%), protection/safety/dignity (18%), shelter (17%).
