The sixth Situation Report provides an update on the impact of the 24 June earthquakes in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and summarizes IOM’s ongoing and planned response in support of affected populations and national efforts by July 05. Highlights Official figures report at least 3,342 fatalities, 16,740 injuries, 6,462 people rescued and 17,345 people without housing following the 24 June earthquakes. Official and inter-agency figures also report 856 buildings affected and 190 total collapses. A total of 79 transitory camps have been reported, with installed capacity for 14,599 people and 10,702 people currently accommodated. IOM continues supporting shelter, site coordination, WASH, health and MHPSS, protection, registration, information management and inter-agency coordination. Urgent additional support is required to improve conditions in transitory camps, expand access to safe water and sanitation, strengthen registration and referrals, and address protection and public health risks. IOM activities IOM continued supporting shelter, site coordination and essential services in La Guaira, particularly at Polideportivo José María Vargas. Support included reception of newly displaced individuals, coordination with authorities and partners, installation of tents for key service areas, and provision of 464 bunk beds, equivalent to 928 beds. IOM also coordinated with relevant authorities to improve electricity points and site lighting, while continuing site assessments and community consultations in Playa Grande. In health and MHPSS, IOM-supported teams provided 186 medical and psychosocial consultations at Polideportivo José María Vargas, including psychiatry, psychology, general medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, and gynecology and obstetrics. Six trauma-related medical transfers were made to the Military Field Hospital and resolved in a timely manner. Main identified needs include trauma-related symptoms, acute stress, chronic diseases, respiratory conditions, maternal and child health, and sexual and reproductive health services. IOM also delivered a portable water treatment plant to be installed shortly, supported registration of more than 400 families at Estadio César Nieves, and continued protection triage, legal orientation and referrals. IOM facilitated site-level inter-agency coordination in La Guaira and coordinated with OCHA and UNHCR on displaced population estimates, target populations and activities for the Infrastructure and Temporary Accommodation Working Group. IOM planned response IOM will continue prioritizing safe temporary accommodation, site coordination and management, health and MHPSS, WASH, protection, registration and information management. In temporary sites, IOM will support site planning, registration, service coordination, tent installation, lighting, connectivity, community engagement, information provision, AAP, PSEA, GBV risk mitigation and protection referrals. IOM will also seek to expand medical and MHPSS teams, referrals, chronic disease care, sexual and reproductive health services, psychological first aid and specialized mental health support. Additional support remains urgently needed to improve conditions in transitory camps and affected communities, strengthen safe and accountable services, reduce protection and public health risks, and generate timely data to inform a targeted, safe and dignified response who leaves no one behind.
