This fourth Situation Report provides an updated overview of the impact of the 24 June earthquakes in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and outlines IOM’s ongoing and planned response in support of affected populations and national efforts. Highlights Official figures report at least 2, 295 fatalities, 11, 267 injuries, 12, 841 people severely affected and 26, 403 people affected following the 24 June earthquakes. Figures pending further update include 855 buildings affected, 189 total collapses and 6, 461 people rescued. Damage to housing and urban infrastructure continues to drive displacement and temporary accommodation needs, including among families in temporary sites and people sleeping outside damaged homes due to safety concerns or to protect their belongings. IOM continues supporting temporary accommodation, WASH, health and MHPSS, protection and information management activities, including support to temporary sites in La Guaira and the provision of 809 health assistance services to affected people. IOM activities IOM has continued supporting shelter, site coordination and essential services in temporary accommodation sites. At Polideportivo José María Vargas, bunk beds were arranged with support from community leaders, supplies were reorganized for distributions, and registration and entry/exit processes were reinforced. IOM also installed the first of seven tents planned to provide sleeping space for 100 people. At Estadio César Nieves, IOM began installing shaded spaces to support service provision and affected populations. In health, MHPSS, WASH, protection and data, IOM and partners have provided 809 health assistance services through direct support and medical brigades. On 1 July, assistance included paediatrics, gynaecology and obstetrics, general and internal medicine, individual MHPSS consultations, psychological first aid and four medical referrals. IOM also supported the arrival of one portable water treatment plant in Maiquetía, continued protection orientation and referral support, updated temporary accommodation mapping, confirmed the use of an IMS registration tool and participated with OCHA in the Rapid Needs Assessment process. IOM planned response IOM’s planned response will continue prioritizing safe temporary accommodation, site coordination and management, WASH, health and MHPSS, protection, and data and needs assessments. In temporary accommodation sites, IOM will continue supporting site planning, registration, warehouse management and the installation of tents and basic site arrangements to improve safety, dignity and protection. This will be complemented by support to community organization, coexistence rules, information provision and accountability mechanisms, including AAP, GBV risk mitigation and PSEA measures. In WASH and health, IOM will focus on expanding access to safe water, hygiene promotion, basic sanitation and mobile health services in affected communities and temporary sites. Health support will prioritize medical teams, referrals, chronic disease care, sexual and reproductive health, psychological first aid and MHPSS, alongside the provision of essential medicines, supplies and assistive devices for people with specific needs. In protection and information management, IOM will continue risk monitoring, safe referrals and support to people with specific needs, including children and adolescents, older persons, pregnant and lactating women, and people affected by the loss or damage of identity documents. IOM will also support Rapid Needs Assessments, while producing site profiles, mobility updates, maps and needs analyses to inform multisectoral prioritization.
