Description Flood Situation Update in Northern Thailand Flooding remains ongoing in five provinces: Nan, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Ubon Ratchathani, and Kanchanaburi, affecting 11 districts, 22 sub-districts, and 90 villages. A total of 1, 997 households (6, 134 people) remain affected. The floods have resulted in three fatalities, all reported in Nan Province, including one in Pua District and two in Tha Wang Pha District. Among the affected areas, Nan Province has been the hardest hit, accounting for the majority of affected households, disrupted infrastructure, and flood-related fatalities. Request For Assistance Government Requests International Assistance: No NS Requests International Assistance: No Information Bulletin Published No Actions taken by National Society General Food aid Relief/Supply distribution Summary Thai Red Cross Society Response (TRCS) On 22 August 2026, the Thai Red Cross Society’s Health Station No. 3 (Chiang Mai) deployed a rapid assessment team to Nan Province to assess flood damage and identify the immediate needs of affected communities. The team also supported the mobile kitchen operations of the Nan Provincial Red Cross Chapter and conducted field assessments in Mueang Nan, Wiang Sa, and Phu Phiang districts to inform timely and targeted humanitarian assistance. Red Cross volunteers, together with the Nan Provincial Red Cross Chapter and partner organizations, supported mobile kitchen operations by preparing and distributing more than 1, 000 cooked meal boxes to flood-affected communities in Nan Province. The effort involved volunteers from youth networks, local government agencies, and schools to help provide immediate relief to affected households. Actions taken by Federation General Other Summary IFRC is closely monitoring the situation and remains ready to support the TRCS upon request. Actions taken by others The Royal Thai Government has directed all relevant agencies to intensify response and recovery efforts, prioritizing the safety and well-being of affected populations. Authorities have coordinated closely to ensure a unified approach to emergency response, relief distribution, and recovery operations until the situation is fully resolved. To support flood response in Nan Province, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) deployed a KA-32 helicopter for evacuation missions and mobilized emergency equipment and personnel from three regional disaster prevention centers. Resources included boats, water pumps, high-clearance vehicles, rescue vehicles, jet skis, and 5, 000 relief kits, alongside Emergency Response Teams (ERT) and Air Rescue personnel. Additional humanitarian assistance was provided by the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation and PTT (Thai petroleum and natural gas company), which supplied a total of 9, 000 relief packages. Two Royal Volunteer Community Kitchens were established in Pua and Tha Wang Pha districts to provide meals for affected communities. A total of 40 temporary shelters were opened during the emergency response. As the situation improved, five shelters remained operational to accommodate displaced residents.
