Country: South Sudan Source: International Organization for Migration Please refer to the attached Infographic. South Sudan is currently facing a severe humanitarian crisis characterised by extensive internal displacement. The underlying causes of these displacement dynamics are varied and include communal clashes, land disputes, insecurity, violence, disasters, and cross-border movements. The situation is further complicated by the ongoing conflict in neighbouring Sudan, which has led to an influx of refugees and returnees, straining already limited resources. Since early January 2026, fighting in Jonglei State has escalated, driving large-scale displacement within the state.
