Saudi Arabia appoints Dr. Rajeh Al-Baqami as new ambassador to Pakistan

Saudi Arabia has appointed Dr. Rajeh Al-Baqami as its new ambassador to Pakistan, according to sources. Sources said Dr. Rajeh Al-Baqami was among nine newly appointed Saudi ambassadors who took the oath of office before Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman earlier this week. He will succeed Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmed Al-Maliki as Saudi Arabia’s envoy to Pakistan. According to sources, Dr. Rajeh Al-Baqami is a retired Major General who served in the Saudi Armed Forces before joining the diplomatic service. He is regarded as a senior Saudi diplomat and is among the few Saudi ambassadors with extensive experience in defense and security affairs. Sources said his appointment comes at a time when Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are witnessing growing cooperation across multiple sectors, including economic, strategic and defence ties. Officials believe Dr. Al-Baqami’s extensive defence background is expected to strengthen the already close security cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, according to sources.
