LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the celebration of a 10-day Basant festival in Lahore as a special gift for the people of the city and also approved the plan. As per plan, Basant will be celebrated in Lahore for 10 days, with the festival scheduled from January 29 to February 7. However, there will be a one-day break in Basant festivities on February 5 to observe Kashmir Day. After a 25-year hiatus, Basant was celebrated in Lahore from February 6 to 8 this year. On the occasion of the arrival of the new year 2027, CM Maryam Nawaz directed that a 10-day Basant festival be organised in Lahore as a gift for the citizens. In accordance with her directions, the festival will be held from January 29 to February 7, with a one-day break on February 5 for Kashmir Day. The CM said that a 10-day Basant festival would help promote Punjab’s cultural heritage and Lahore’s centuries-old traditions across the world. The chief minister directed that better arrangements be made for the safety and convenience of citizens than those made during the previous Basant festival. Appealing to the people of Lahore, the CM expressed hope that they would once again set a new example by demonstrating a sense of duty, responsibility and care to ensure the protection of human lives, as they did during the previous Basant celebrations.
