ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Information and Broadcasting Ikhtiar Wali on Saturday urged the public to avoid investing in illegal housing societies and to thoroughly verify land status before purchasing property, emphasizing that no one is allowed to violate the law or undertake unauthorized development. While speaking exclusively with a local media outlet, Ikhtiar Wali urged citizens to exercise extreme caution before making any property investments. He advised the public to thoroughly verify the legal status and ownership of land prior to purchasing, stressing that due diligence is essential to avoid financial loss and fraud. He particularly warned against investing in illegal housing societies, noting that many such schemes operate without proper approval or land clearance. Wali emphasized that people should not be misled by attractive offers and should always confirm the authenticity of housing projects before committing their hard-earned money. Referring to the situation in Islamabad, he said that awareness among citizens is especially important in and around the federal capital, where unapproved housing schemes have also been reported. He reiterated that strict legal action is being taken against illegal developments and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the concerned authorities. In response to a question, Ikhtiar Wali stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a high-level committee to look into the matter concerning One Constitution Avenue, a high-rise building in Islamabad comprising residential units. He further noted that authorities have been instructed to pause any action until the committee submits its findings. He assured that the matter will be addressed on merit, adding that all stakeholders will be given due consideration and justice will be ensured through a fair and transparent process.
