PTI says will take out rally in Capital on 27th to press for the release of IK

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said on Tuesday that it would rally in federal capital on September 27 to press for the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who remains in prison on what the party alleges as politically motivated charges. Talking to reporters, acting PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said the demonstration was not intended to storm Adiala Jail or “conquer” the capital, but to demand the release of PTI founder. “We are not coming to break the gates of Adiala Jail, ” he said. “We want justice to be provided to us. Our demands should be accepted and considered seriously. ” He said the PTI would not attempt to force its way into the jail, stressing that the party wanted justice and the implementation of court orders. He welcomed the Islamabad High Court’s decision concerning Imran Khan, saying it was encouraging that the courts had begun providing justice to the party. He said the PTI wanted court orders to be implemented, adding that it had been 320 days since the party had been able to meet its founder. Gohar said the September 27 demonstration was aimed at demanding the party’s rights after it had failed to secure justice through other forums. “We are not coming to Islamabad to conquer it; we are coming to demand our rights, ” he said, adding that the convoy would be led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and that the protest would remain peaceful. He also said provincial resources belonging to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would not be used for the protest. He said the PTI had approached the courts and raised its concerns in the National Assembly and Senate, but claimed that no one had listened to the party.
