The electricity shortfall has exceeded 4, 000 megawatts due to the shutdown of several power plants and a decline in hydropower generation. As a result, consumers in both urban and rural areas are experiencing three to four hours of load-shedding. The situation is reportedly more serious in areas served by the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO).
