Country: Poland Source: European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations Since 5 May, a wildfire has been affecting the counties of Bilgoraj, Zamość, and Tomaszów in the Lublin region of south-eastern Poland, causing casualties and damage. According to media, as of 6 May, the fire has burned more than 250 hectares of forest in the village of Kozaki, in southern Bilgoraj, where one civilian pilot of firefighting aircraft died during crash. At least 350 firefighters, 85 brigades and 3 helicopters took part in the extinguishing operation. Over the next 24 hours, according to the JRC European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS), the fire danger forecast is expected to range from moderate to high across the area of interest.
