The federal government has reduced the ex-depot prices of petroleum products, cutting high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs4. 21 per litre and motor spirit (petrol) by Rs1. 93 per litre. According to a press release issued by the Petroleum Division on Wednesday, the revised prices for September 24, 2026, under the petroleum pricing mechanism notified by the federal government. The price of diesel has been reduced from Rs418. 96 to Rs414. 75 per litre, while petrol has been cut from Rs392. 05 to Rs390. 12 per litre. The latest adjustment marks the second consecutive review in which both major petroleum products have become cheaper. In the previous review, the government had reduced the price of petrol by Rs1. 70 per litre, from Rs393. 75 to Rs392. 05, and HSD by Rs3. 12, from Rs422. 08 to Rs418. 96. The Petroleum Division said the latest changes were necessitated by developments in the global market, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and incidentals. The revised rates will remain applicable through Thursday, September 24. Brent crude futures rose $1. 84, or 1. 85%, to $101. 09 a barrel by 11: 11am EDT, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures gained 69 cents, or 0. 76%, to $91. 21. Oil prices have remained volatile amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with traders closely monitoring developments involving Iran and the United States.
