Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Coast Guards have seized a large consignment of narcotics worth approximately $215 million in an intelligence-based joint operation near Gwadar, Pakistan Navy said on Monday. The operation was conducted in coordination with the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC) at Pishukan, a coastal area near Gwadar. During the raid, authorities confiscated 1, 500 kilograms of hashish and 500 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as ice, the Director General Public Relations (DGPR) Pakistan Navy said in a statement said. The narcotics consignment was reportedly being transported through the Arabian Sea to international destinations. Following the seizure, the recovered drugs were handed over to the Pakistan Coast Guards for further legal proceedings. The Pakistan Navy said the successful operation reflected effective coordination among maritime law enforcement agencies in countering smuggling activities and reaffirmed its commitment to preventing the use of Pakistan’s maritime domain for illicit trafficking.
