Pakistan cuts petrol price by Rs0.35, raises diesel by Rs5.71 for one day

The federal government on Monday marginally reduced the price of petrol while increasing the price of high-speed diesel (HSD), with the revised rates taking effect from July 21 under Pakistan’s newly introduced daily petroleum pricing mechanism. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised ex-depot prices based on the government’s updated petroleum pricing framework. The price of motor spirit (petrol) was reduced by Rs0. 35 per litre to Rs315. 80 from Rs316. 15. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel was increased by Rs5. 71 per litre to Rs360. 06, up from Rs354. 35. The revised prices will come into effect from July 21, 2026. The latest revision follows the government’s decision to replace the previous periodic review with a daily pricing mechanism, allowing domestic fuel prices to better reflect changes in international oil markets and import costs. On Frday, the government announced an increase in the prices of petroleum products for a three-day period, raising the price of high-speed diesel by Rs31. 05 per litre and petrol by Rs5. 44 per litre for three days. Pakistan previously reviewed petroleum product prices every week. However, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik announced last week that the fuel prices will now be reviewed on a daily basis amid skyrocketing oil prices in the global market.
