Pak diplomacy helps fortify global peace: Sanaullah

FAISALABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister (PM) on Political and Public Affairs Senator Rana Sanaullah said on Saturday that Pakistan’s proactive and high-level diplomacy played a decisive role in reducing tensions between Iran and the United States, in addition to paving the way for a ceasefire and significantly improving prospects for sustainable peace in the region. Talking to the media after addressing convocation of Abwa Medical College, he said that Pakistan’s political and military leadership demonstrated exceptional foresight and statesmanship in defusing a potentially devastating conflict. He said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar remained in continuous contact with global leadership, and Pakistan’s sincere diplomatic efforts were widely acknowledged by the international community. He said that the ceasefire between Iran and the US was a major diplomatic success that helped avert large-scale destruction and instability in the region. He expressed optimism that the ceasefire would hold, opening new avenues for lasting peace and dialogue. Pakistan had always advocated for peace and stability, and its responsible role in the current international situation further enhanced its global standing, he added. Rana Sanaullah said that Pakistani leadership was being appreciated worldwide for its vision and prudence, adding that praise was not limited to President Donald Trump but extended to other major countries including Saudi Arabia and Iran. Highlighting the importance of diplomacy, he said that recent developments proved that negotiations and engagement remained the only effective path forward and Pakistan had successfully projected this stance on the global stage. Commenting on social media trends, he criticised certain elements for spreading propaganda driven by personal grudges and negative politics for damaging Pakistan’s image. However, the nation had consistently rejected such narratives and stood firmly behind its political and military leadership particularly during ‘Marka-e-Haq’ when misleading campaigns were countered by strong public unity, he added. Responding to a question, he categorically ruled out any backdoor deal with Imran Khan and said that all matters relating to the PTI founder were before courts and would be decided strictly in accordance with the Constitution and law.
