Over 10 cases of kidnapping reported in Capital in a single day

ISLAMABAD: The highly guarded capital city witnessed an increase in incidents of carjacking, robbery, street crime, and kidnapping during the past week. According to data collected by Business Recorder, more than 10 cases of kidnapping were reported at various police stations in a single day. Additionally, 36 carjacking cases, 12 incidents of street crime, including mobile phone and cash snatching, and 17 cases of theft, including robberies, dacoities, and other break-ins, were registered at various police stations across the city. The crime data shows that during the past week, criminal gangs were most active within the jurisdictions of the Khanna, Noon, Shalimar, Sihala, Tarnol, Koral, Humak, and Aabpara police stations. During the week, three cases of kidnapping, two cases of robbery, and two cases of car lifting were reported at the Khanna police station. During the same period, the Khanna police station registered a kidnapping case following the disappearance of a 16-year-old boy from Bilal Town. Furthermore, a 15-year-old girl disappeared from Iqbal Town, which falls within the jurisdiction of the Khanna police station. The police registered a case under Section 365-B of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) following a complaint lodged by her mother. Another citizen filed a complaint with the Khanna police station, stating that her son had been kidnapped from Garden Town. Consequently, the police registered a case under Section 365 of the PPC. During the same period, two cases each of robbery, street crime, and car lifting were registered at the Noon police station. Additionally, two more cases of street crime and three cases of car lifting were reported at the Shalimar police station. During the last week, three cases of kidnapping were reported at the Sihala police station. According to police sources, an unidentified man stole valuables from a house and also kidnapped a woman within the limits of the Sihala police station. A 21-year-old girl also disappeared from the area, and the police registered a case under Section 365-B of the PPC on the complaint of her father. During the period under review, the Sihala police also registered another case regarding the kidnapping of an 18-year-old girl from her house in Model Town. Similarly, one case each of car lifting and kidnapping was reported at the Karachi Company police station. According to police, three women kidnapped a newborn baby boy from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital. Following the incident, the police registered a case under Section 364-A of the PPC. Later, the police traced the kidnappers and recovered the newborn from them. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
