All information updated for 15 – 28 July 2026 [1] Days 1011 – 1024 since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip Highlights The Gaza Strip UNRWA summer learning activities started on 18 July, with 39, 509 children (21, 666 girls, 17, 843 boys, including 875 children with disabilities) participating between 20 and 26 July. Summer activities also started at the UNRWA Rehabilitation Centre for the Visually Impaired (RCVI). On 21 July, UNRWA resumed operations at Beach Camp Health Centre in western Gaza City, which had been closed since sustaining damage during the September-October 2025 military escalation. On 29 July, UNRWA also opened the Bahrain Medical Point, in southern Gaza City. Together, the two facilities are expected to serve a large catchment area (almost 100, 000 people), expanding access to essential primary healthcare services across densely populated areas of Gaza City. The operating environment in Gaza continues to deteriorate, with a significant escalation in hostilities observed in the humanitarian area – also known as the “green zone” – west of the so-called “yellow line” of control designated by Israeli forces. There have also been additional advances of the yellow line across multiple areas, including in eastern Middle Area, Gaza City and Khan Younis. Multiple evacuation orders and shelter-in place orders were issued over the past week with several humanitarian infrastructure affected (including more than ten UNRWA premises). Restrictions on the entry of lubricant oil and spare parts continue to pose a critical challenge for humanitarian operation, More than half of UNRWA’s fleet is no longer operational due to the shortage of engine oil and spare parts. In addition, 62 water wells have been affected by fuel and lubricant shortages, leading to a reduction of 42 percent in UNRWA’s production and distribution of clean water. The occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem On 27 July, the UNRWA Kalandia Training Centre in East Jerusalem was subject to an unauthorised entry by Israeli forces and Jerusalem Municipality officials, during which they inspected the premises while educational activities were ongoing. As a United Nations property, the Kalandia Training Centre is protected under international law.
