Nepal Flood Emergency Situation Report | Reporting Period: 4 to 6 September 2026

SITUATION UPDATE Heavy monsoon flooding across Dhading District, Bagmati Province, has severely damaged critical public health, educational, and transportation infrastructure in Galchhi Rural Municipality. Thick silt and mud deposits, averaging up to 60cm deep, blocked primary access roads and disabled essential utility systems, disrupting healthcare delivery and isolating local student populations. Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation is coordinating with local administrators, hospital directors, military and police personnel, and community volunteer networks to mobilize emergency cleanup operations, restore public utilities, and prepare necessary relief distributions. OPERATIONAL RESPONSE Bhagawati Secondary School Emergency Cleanup Bhagawati Secondary School in Dhading District was heavily impacted by mud and water deposits, rendering the school campus unsafe for classes. A massive emergency sanitation operation mobilised over 200 personnel, including parents, teachers, students, local villagers, and military personnel, to clear mud and sanitise the premises. To restore water supply, the cleanup team inspected the school’s 168-meter-deep well and installed large-capacity water-storage tanks to secure sanitary water for campus cleaning and long-term student needs. A critical bottleneck remains: the collapse of a key connecting bridge has severely disrupted student commutes. Students who previously took a short 20-minute walk must now take a hazardous 1-hour detour. Tzu Chi and local authorities are currently evaluating safe alternative pedestrian routes
