Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered authorities to intensify the crackdown on organised cybercrime networks, particularly those involved in online financial fraud, digital blackmail and harassment. The minister issued these directives while chairing a meeting at the central zone headquarters of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on Sunday. Naqvi directed authorities to take indiscriminate action against those involved in online financial fraud, fake accounts, digital blackmail and online harassment, saying offenders must be brought to justice regardless of where they operate from. He ordered officials to strengthen the mechanism for an immediate response to complaints of financial fraud and conduct case-by-case reviews of pending cases and complaints. The minister also directed authorities to enhance digital forensic capabilities, expand the use of modern forensic tools and provide specialised training to investigation officers. He further instructed officials to give priority to complaints involving online harassment, blackmail and digital exploitation of women and children. The NCCIA director general briefed the meeting on the performance of the Central Zone, cases under investigation, trends in cyber fraud and ongoing operations. Mohsin Naqvi reviewed ongoing operations and investigations against cybercrime and ordered authorities to step up action against offenders. During the visit, Naqvi inspected the complaints cell, digital forensics laboratory and investigation wing and reviewed the process from receiving complaints to investigations and action against suspects.
