Naqvi, Baker discuss ties, regional situation

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker met here on Wednesday to discuss bilateral relations and the current situation in the region. The meeting took place a few days after Naqvi visited Tehran where a detailed meeting with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni held. According to an official statement issued by Pakistan Interior Ministry, Pakistan and the United States agreed to strengthen mutual engagement and communication to further promote bilateral cooperation. Naqvi and Baker also discussed the current situation in the region, efforts for peace and stability, regional security matters, and Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace, the statement said. During the meeting, the US diplomat appreciated Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. Naqvi said that Pakistan is a strong wall between the world and terrorism.
