MS inaugurates portable X-ray machine for Peds Dept: Civil Hospital serves patients from Sindh, Balochistan, and southern Punjab

KARACHI: A portable X-ray machine provided for the Department of Paediatrics, Unit-II, Civil Hospital Karachi, was inaugurated by Medical Superintendent Dr Khalid Bukhari at a ceremony held at the hospital on Saturday. The portable X-ray machine was donated by Shahzad Sabir of Rotary International District 3271 to facilitate timely diagnostic services for children undergoing treatment at Paediatrics Unit-II. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Khalid Bukhari said that Civil Hospital Karachi was not only catering to the healthcare needs of people from across Sindh but also providing treatment and other medical facilities to patients coming from Balochistan and southern Punjab. He said Civil Hospital Karachi was a major public-sector healthcare institution where a large number of patients from different parts of the country visited daily for treatment. The growing number of patients was placing additional pressure on the hospital’s available resources and medical facilities. Dr Khalid Bukhari said that, due to financial constraints, Civil Hospital Karachi needed support from the private sector, philanthropists and welfare organisations to improve medical facilities and provide better healthcare to patients. He specially thanked Shahzad Sabir of Rotary International District 3271 for donating the portable X-ray machine for Paediatrics Unit-II. He said the availability of the machine would help facilitate timely diagnostic examinations of children and further improve the quality of patient care. The Medical Superintendent also appreciated the services and efforts of Professor Jamalvi for the Paediatrics Department and lauded the efforts being made to improve healthcare facilities for children at the hospital. Dr Khalid Bukhari also appreciated the efforts of Ali Suleman Soomro for his cooperation and assistance in arranging the portable X-ray machine. He said such collaboration among public hospitals, private organisations and philanthropists could play an important role in strengthening healthcare facilities and meeting patients’ needs. He expressed hope that more organisations and philanthropists would come forward to support Civil Hospital Karachi so that the hospital could provide better and accessible healthcare facilities to all patients, particularly children and underprivileged segments of society.
