Mozambique — Multi-Sectoral Location Assessment, Round 17 (October 2026)

Please refer to the attached file. This report presents the key indings from Multi-sectoral Location Assessment Round 17, conducted across all provinces of Mozambique between May and June 2026. Data were collected at locality and displacement-site levels through key informant interviews, group discussions, and sampled household surveys using the Demographic and Displacement Calculator (DDC). The assessment provides a geographic overview of the demographic proile, mobility dynamics, and priority multi-sectoral needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) living in displacement sites across the country. The indings are intended to inform evidence-based humanitarian programming, support emergency response planning, and contribute to the design of durable solutions and longer-term development interventions. Unless otherwise stated, percentages presented in the provincial analysis represent the proportion of assessed sites where the respective condition was reported by key informants. During this round, the International Organization for Migration (IOM)’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM), in collaboration with the National Institute for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction (INGD) and the National Institute of Statistics (INE), identiied 87, 201 households, representing 363, 606 individuals, across 213 displacement sites. The assessed locations included temporary centres, relocation sites, resettlement sites, and host community extensions. The IDP population recorded an increase of four (4) per cent compared with the previous round. This increase was associated with expanded displacement monitoring coverage in Gaza and Inhambane provinces and additional displacement resulting from attacks by non-state armed groups in northern Mozambique between June and December 2025. Across the assessed sites, financial support, livelihood opportunities, and food were reported as the most urgent needs.
