Mayor Karachi inspects road projects, criticises political rivals

KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Wednesday inspected ongoing road development projects in different parts of the city and directed officials to complete the work as soon as possible. ‎The Mayor visited the under-construction Sehba Akhtar Road and Shahrah-e-Quaidin in Gulshan Town, where officials from the KMC engineering department briefed him on the projects’ progress. ‎He directed the relevant officials to expedite the work and said the Sehba Akhtar Road project would be completed soon, adding that work on another road, identified as 170 Road, would also begin shortly. ‎During the visit, Wahab criticised the Jamaat-e-Islami, saying the party’s local representatives should focus on public service rather than staging protests. ‎He said workers from his Pakistan Peoples Party were serving residents, while accusing the opposition party of launching protests and criticism as development work accelerated. ‎Wahab’s remarks came as the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation continues work on road infrastructure and other municipal projects across Karachi.
