Kharan DC remains missing in Balochistan as three abducted policemen freed

Four people, including Kharan Deputy Commissioner Mehr Ahmed, his driver and two guards, remain missing after they disappeared while travelling from Quetta to Kharan, police said on Monday. According to police, the deputy commissioner was travelling in a private vehicle with his driver and two guards when they went missing from Nushki Road a day earlier. Police suspect the four may have been abducted by armed men. However, no information about their whereabouts has emerged despite the passage of a day. The government is making efforts to trace the missing officials and ensure their safe recovery. Meanwhile, two cricketers abducted from Dera Bugti have also not been released. Zakir Bugti and Dadan Bugti, residents of Sui, had travelled to Kandhkot in Sindh to play a cricket match. They were allegedly abducted at gunpoint by armed men while returning near the Kachi Canal area. The abductors took the two men to an undisclosed location, according to the available information. Separately, three policemen abducted from Panjpaai in Mastung have been released following intervention by tribal elders and local notables. Armed men had allegedly abducted the three policemen, including a retired police official, from a house where they were attending the wedding of a policeman’s sister. The three hostages were later released safely after tribal elders and community leaders held talks with the abductors.
