Description According to data from Kyrgyzhydromet, part of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, a series of storm warning alerts were issued between April 20 and 28, 2026. Following this on April 28, at approximately 16: 45, heavy rain caused the canal in the city of Gulcha (Osh oblast) to overflow, mudsilides the areas around nearby homes. Also on the same day, around 22: 30. local time, in the village of Zhashasyn, Kyz-Köl Aiyl Okmotu, Suzak District (Jalal-Abad oblast), after a brief heavy rain, mudslides entered the yards of residential homes. Osh Oblast, Alay district, Gulcha city – 92 HH affected. (houses flooded) Jalal-Abad Oblast, Suzak district, Zhashasyn village – 4 HH affected (houses flooded) No injured, dead or missed registered. Upon receiving notification of the incident, the branch conducted an inventory check of its stockpiles in preparation for a potential worsening of the situation. By the morning of April 29 Osh branch team traveling to location to conduct needs assessment, 17 hygiene kits will be distributed. Jalal-Abad branch is also actively cooperating with the MoES for the Jalal-Abad Region and monitoring the situation. Actions taken by others In Osh on April 28, 2026, at 16: 45, 59 people and 6 pieces of equipment – including excavators, a grader, garbage trucks, and a motor pump – were working at the scene to clear debris and address the aftermath of the mudslides. By the evening of April 28, the civil defense forces of the Alai District and the MoES of KR had been reinforced to 386 personnel, 23 pieces of equipment, and 5 motor pumps. Work is underway to clear mud from residential buildings. In Jalal-Abad by the morning of April 29 MoES conducting cleaning works in affected areas
