Karachi mayor opens park

KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Saturday inaugurated a newly developed Green Belt Park in Shireen Jinnah Colony and reaffirmed the city administration’s commitment to expanding public spaces and accelerating development projects in the city. Pakistan People’s Party parliamentary leader in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Karamullah Waqasi, local elected representatives and party leaders were also present. Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said the city’s development agenda would not be confined to any particular locality, pledging to serve every area of Karachi without discrimination. “Whether it is Liaquatabad, Orangi or Shireen Jinnah Colony, I will continue to serve every part of Karachi, ” Wahab said. Highlighting the transformation of the site, the Mayor said the area previously used as a garbage dumping point but had been converted into a clean and well-maintained public park through the efforts of elected local government representatives. Wahab said the PPP-led city administration was focused on improving Karachi’s public infrastructure, parks, roads and municipal facilities to enhance the quality of life for residents. In contradiction to the previous local government practices, the Mayor said elected representatives should focus on delivering public services and development rather than symbolic political activities.
