Please refer to the attached file. Jamaica: IOM Hurricane Melissa Response Situation Report No. 19 (Reporting Period: November 2025 – September 2026) Nearly one year after Hurricane Melissa impacted Jamaica, IOM continues to support recovery and resilience-building efforts in the country’s most affected communities. This 19th Situation Report outlines progress across shelter rehabilitation, emergency shelter upgrades, non-food item (NFI) assistance, livelihoods support, and psychosocial services delivered in partnership with the Government of Jamaica, local authorities, implementing partners, and affected communities. Key achievements include shelter repair support reaching 3, 989 households, including both light and heavy repairs, alongside Build Back Safer initiatives that have reached approximately 21, 000 households through awareness-raising and technical guidance. IOM has also advanced improvements to community centres identified as potential emergency shelters, strengthening preparedness and protection capacities ahead of future hurricane seasons. During the reporting period, IOM finalized its NFI distribution activities, providing essential household items to vulnerable hurricane-affected families and bringing total beneficiaries of NFI assistance to more than 31, 200 individuals. Debris removal and Cash-for-Work interventions have concluded, benefiting 5, 928 people while helping restore access to critical infrastructure and supporting local economic recovery. Psychological First Aid activities also concluded after reaching more than 1, 000 individuals and training 104 community focal points and volunteers. Looking ahead, IOM will continue expanding shelter repair assistance, complete upgrades to remaining community shelters, strengthen joint initiatives with UN partners, and undertake post-intervention monitoring to assess impact and inform future preparedness and recovery efforts. The report highlights the importance of sustained partnerships and investment in resilience to help communities better withstand future disasters.
