Islamabad’s F-8 Markaz: At least 12 people rescued as fire breaks out at Babar Plaza

ISLAMABAD: At least 12 people were safely rescued after a fire broke out at Babar Plaza in Islamabad’s F-8 Markaz on Tuesday, while no loss of life was reported, according to the Capital Development Authority (CDA). The CDA said its Fire and Emergency Services teams rushed to the site immediately after receiving information about the blaze and launched firefighting and rescue operations. Firefighters managed to contain the fire and prevented it from spreading further through the building. During the operation, 12 people trapped or present inside the building were evacuated safely. The CDA said the fire was brought completely under control and the rescue operation was successfully concluded. No casualties were reported in the incident. According to the authority, firefighters and rescue personnel operated under difficult conditions to secure the building and protect those inside. The CDA administration appreciated the response of its Fire and Emergency Services personnel and said protecting the lives and property of Islamabad residents remained its priority. The authority also urged citizens to immediately alert the relevant fire and rescue services in case of any emergency and cooperate with rescue personnel during such operations. The CDA statement did not specify the cause of the fire or provide an estimate of the property damage. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
