Indian delegation arrives in Pakistan for SCO meeting after two years

A high-level Indian diplomatic delegation has arrived in Pakistan for a meeting of the Council of National Coordinators (CNC) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Islamabad, marking the first visit by an Indian delegation to the country in two years. India’s delegation is participating in the three-day meeting, with Indian National Coordinator Alok Amitabh Dimri leading the delegation, the sources said. Pakistan’s National Coordinator is chairing the meeting, where participants will discuss broader issues related to cooperation and coordination among SCO member states. The meeting will also review the programme of activities under Pakistan’s SCO chairmanship and preparations for upcoming SCO meetings and events. The meeting, to be held from September 28 to 30, marks an important initial engagement under Pakistan’s chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State for 2026-27 and will help coordinate upcoming high-level meetings and activities. According to a statement released on X by the Foreign Office on Sunday, Pakistan’s National Coordinator will chair the upcoming SCO meeting. The session will bring together national coordinators from member states and representatives from the SCO Secretariat. The national coordinators will discuss a “wide range of issues relating to SCO cooperation and coordination”, including the “programme of activities under Pakistan’s Chairmanship”, preparations for upcoming SCO meetings and events, and other matters on the organisation’s agenda, the Foreign Office said.
